Art is the reflection of the artist’s inner world. Justyna Wołodkiewicz, who comes from Poland, says that her creations are an expression of what is happening inside her, which can be best described with words such as difficult, imaginative, complicated, exaggerated, joyful, frenetic, affectionate or abstract.
One thing is certain, Justyna’s creations are complex and her use of polymer to create 3D embroidery is very interesting and innovative.
We wanted to know more about the artist’s background. She explains that she didn't plan her life very in much detail, so it just happened that she studied horticulture and later on moved from a big city to the countryside where she lives in sync with the seasons, cycles and fickleness of nature. And that's where her art is rooted.
She started her adventure with polymer clay five years ago. At that time she created purely clay sculptures. Later on she took her art to a completely new level. Since 2017 she’s been sculpting and stitching three dimensional abstract hoops. These are clay sculptures hand stitched on fabric. Justyna admits that creating enhances her vitality and gives her a sense of fulfillment. At the same time, the creative process seems to be a pure game she plays with the universe. And that’s how she loves creating.
We would like to encourage you to spend some time exploring the complex nature of her pieces. There is so much to discover, starting with the polymer elements themselves, through Justyna’s choice of colour palette’s, to the final symbiosis of polymer and thread, which often results in interesting effects created by light and shadow.

Justyna Wołodkiewicz, která pochází z Polska, říká, že její výtvory jsou výrazem toho, co se odehrává uvnitř ní, což se dá nejlépe popsat slovy jako těžké, imaginativní, složité, přehnané, radostné, frenetické, láskyplné či abstraktní. Jedna věc je však jistá, Justyniny výtvory jsou komplexní a její použití polymeru je velmi zajímavé a inovativní.
Chtěli jsme vědět víc o životě této umělkyně. Vysvětlila nám, že nikdy svůj život neplánovala do detailu, takže se prostě nějakou náhodou stalo, že studovala zahradnictví a později se z velkoměsta přestěhovala na venkov, kde žije v souladu s ročními obdobími, cykly a vrtošivostí přírody. A z toho také vychází její tvorba.
Justynino polymerové dobrodružství začalo před pěti lety. V té době však tvořila čistě polymerové sochy. Později svou tvorbu povznesla na úplně novou úroveň. Od roku 2017 modeluje a vyšívá abstraktní trojrozměrná díla. Jsou to vlastně plastiky ručně vyšívané na látce. Justyna připouští, že tvoření podporuje její vitalitu a dává jí pocit naplnění. Zároveň svůj kreativní proces přirovnává ke hře, kterou hraje s vesmírem. A tímto způsobem tvoří nejraději.
