It’s not difficult to guess what is Irina Zubareva’s favourite art style. Ever since she first discovered Art Nouveau at the age of 16, she’s been in love with its ornamental aesthetic. It’s often inspired by natural forms that are presented in a stylized form.
Irina, who was born in Russia, but currently lives in Belgium, dreamed about owning a masterpiece by one of the period’s most celebrated designers such as the glassmaker and jeweller René Lalique, furniture designer and architect Eugène Gaillard, or the jewellery designer Georges Fouquet. Of course, such pieces were unavailable to her, so she started thinking about making her own jewellery in a similar style.
This became possible when Irina discovered polymer clay and started playing with it. Now she creates beautiful pieces, in which she incorporates pearls and gemstones and – just like the original Art Nouveau jewellery – often depicts plants and animals. Irina’s artwork is true to the style she admires so much. We applaud her choice of colours, the designs and the high quality of her craftsmanship.
The artist says that polymer clay allows her to get closer to her favourite artists and we must say that she does a really good job at evoking the spirit of Art Nouveau with her jewellery. Není těžké uhodnout, jaký umělecký styl má Irina Zubareva nejraději. V šestnácti letech se poprvé setkala se secesním uměním a od té doby má v oblibě ornamentální estetiku tohoto období. Ta se často inspiruje přírodními formami, které jsou ztvárněny ve stylizované podobě. A stejné měkké, vlnící se křivky najdeme i v Irinině tvorbě.
Irina, která se narodila v Rusku, avšak v současnosti žije v Belgii, snila o tom, že bude vlastnit některý z mistrovských kousků z dílny slavných secesních umělců, jakými byli například sklář a šperkař René Lalique, návrhář nábytku a architekt Eugène Gaillard nebo návrhář šperků Georges Fouquet. Ty však pro ni byly nedostupné, tak začala přemýšlet nad tím, že si vyrobí vlastní šperky v podobném stylu.
To se jí podařilo díky tomu, že pro sebe objevila polymerovou hmotu a začala si s ní hrát. Nyní vytváří překrásné kousky, do kterých často zakomponovává perly a drahé kameny, a které – stejně jako jejich originální inspirace – často zobrazují zvířata a rostliny. Irinina tvorba je skutečně věrná stylu, který tolik obdivuje. Tleskáme jejímu výběru barev, designům i vysoké úrovni zpracování.
Sama umělkyně říká, že jí polymerová hmota umožňuje přiblížit se svým oblíbeným umělcům a my musíme přiznat, že její šperky opravdu úspěšně evokují ducha secese.
