Patrick Gliem is a Creative Director who recently became a sculpting hobbyist. Although he dabbled in sculpting as a child, his professional career led him towards graphic design and video production. It was only a few months ago, after stumbling on some tutorials on YouTube when he decided to explore this medium after a 20 year pause.
Patrick appreciates all things animation. In recent years, animated media has evolved quite a lot so we see people of colour as lead characters, queer folks getting married, and boys crying with their friends through hardship today.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and an advocate for the importance of representation in childhood media, Patrick often finds himself more captivated by the honesty portrayed in animation than what you'd find in your average blockbuster.
When it comes to his work in sculpture, Patrick finds himself most interested in celebrating the animated characters that taught him about kindness, humility, and general “badassery”. Patrick strives to create sculptures that capture tender moments through subtle, dynamic movements and super vibrant colour palettes.
