ONLINE POLYMER CLAY CLASS WITH LUCY ŠTRUNCOVÁ
After teaching this class to over 100 attendees across Europe, we are finally bringing Lucy's Flying Beetles class online for everyone around the world.
Join us for this special two-day experience and learn how to create contemporary sculptural beetle brooches with intricate details, lightweight construction, and movable elements, all made entirely from polymer clay.
JULY 18–19, 2026
FLYING BEETLES
THE STORY BEHIND
“For the past two years, Flying Beetles has been one of my most requested in-person classes, taught at events and workshops in many countries in Europe,” says Lucy.
What started as a sketchbook idea slowly evolved into a detailed sculptural project focused on movement, precision, construction, and subtle surface decoration.
Over time, Lucy developed multiple ways of creating movable wings and antennas while still keeping the dynamic beetle brooch elegant, wearable, and refined.
Now, after many requests from polymer clay enthusiasts outside of Europe, we are excited to finally bring this experience online for everyone who would love to join from the comfort of their home.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
INSIDE THE CLASS
During this class, you will learn to create your own sculptural beetle brooch featuring:
-
movable wings and antennas
-
lightweight wearable construction
-
techniques for creating vibrant patterns
-
intricate sculptural details
-
organic and geometric layered wing decoration
-
refined finishing techniques
Although the final result appears very clean and minimal, the construction itself is surprisingly detailed and technically thoughtful. Throughout the class, we will make sure that every step is approachable, understandable, and easy to follow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH POLYMER CLAY?
Some previous experience with polymer clay is helpful, but not necessary. Every step of the process will be explained in detail so that attendees can comfortably follow the class and successfully complete the beetle on their own.
However, we do recommend having at least a basic understanding of polymer clay techniques such as conditioning, Skinner blends, leaching, and other fundamental polymer clay techniques before joining the class.
CAN I WATCH THE CLASS LATER IF I MISS THE LIVE SESSION?
Yes. Even if you cannot attend live, you will receive full recordings together with downloadable lifetime access, allowing you to revisit the class anytime at your own pace.
IS THIS CLASS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN?
At the moment, we are planning to organize this online class only once, making this a special opportunity to join the Flying Beetles experience together with makers from around the world and become part of a unique creative weekend.

CLASS ESSENTIALS
